March, 2011 has been designated as “kidney awareness month” by the National Kidney Foundation and to commemorate the occasion a fundraiser has been scheduled for Saturday, March 12th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Carranor Hunt and Polo Club in Perrysburg. All proceeds will go to the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio.
Entitled “Turn on the light for the Kidney Foundation”, the event will feature a delicious meal prepared by Carranor, silent auctions of donated items, boutique shopping tables, and a fashion show featuring spring styles from downtown Perrysburg stores Ragaza, Elegant Rags, Kids Klothesline, Meig, and V-Couture men’s fashions plus Juni Boutique of Sylvania.
The keynote speaker at the luncheon will be Perrysburg resident Ron Born, a recent kidney transplant recipient. Sargent Born is a retired Ohio Highway Patrol Assistant Commander, who received many awards during his career including several hero awards for saving a woman from a burning car. He has been married for fifty years to Janet, a retired preschool teacher, and has three children and one grandchild.
Cost of admission is $40.00 for an individual or $320 for a table of eight. A cash bar will be available. Tickets may be purchased at the Ragazza stores in Perrysburg (419.872.4850) and Ragazza at David Broadway in Sylvania (419.517.5053), or from Host Committee Chariman Deborah Born (419.874.1479). Checks made out to “Kidney Foundation” may be mailed to Ms. Born at 414 Arrowhead Drive, Perrysburg, OH 43551. Advance Reservations are required and purchases must be made by March 8.
